Call Processing Status

8.26 With the * button, you can also send an "are you alive" message to Call Processing. If
Call Processing does not acknowledge this message within 15 seconds, a minor reset is per-
formed.
8.27 To check the Call Processing status, press the * button while the system is active. The
CPC Active LED flashes, and a message is sent to Call Processing. If Call Processing receives
and acknowledges the message, the CPC Active LED returns to its normal state (solidly lit). If,
however, Call Processing does not receive or acknowledge the message, the system performs a
minor reset.
8.28 In Message Print the following message will appear in the logs to confirm that the *
button was pressed and acknowledged. If the Button Acknowledged message does not appear
within 15 seconds then the system will reset.
7
Press and hold the * button until the Acknowledged message displays.
-01:551- 09:54 03-03 M2040 INF HW CP CPC '*' Button Pressed
-01:552- 09:54 03-03 M2041 INF HW CP CPC '*' Button Acknowledged

Backup Database Bypass

8.29 The * button on the CPC can be used to prevent the CPC from restoring the backup
database once the system has been defaulted through DB Programming.
8.30 After the system database has been defaulted through DB Programming, the CPC will
reset and will power up with a default database. At this point, any additional resets of the CPC
will cause it to restore the database backup unless the * button is pressed.
8.31 This Backup Database Bypass is only useful after the system has been defaulted and for
reasons when the CPC must be reset or powered cycled additional times after defaulting. Press-
ing this * button on power up without defaulting first will not cause the system to restore a
default database. It only bypasses restoring the backup database if the system has been
defaulted using DB Programming and the CPC has a backup database saved.
