4.135 For a detailed explanation of nodes and networking, see

Local Node

4.136 For the local node, you can only assign the description, username, and node number.

Remote Nodes

4.137 Each remote node must be programmed with a node number, node trunk groups, and a
search algorithm. You can also program a description and a username for the node. To program
a remote node's node trunk groups and search algorithm, select the specific node to display the
programming options.
4.138 Node Number: You can select node numbers 1-99. If you change the node number, the
system will reset after you exit. To change the current node number, select the current Value
and enter the new value in the text box. Then press
change. If the number you entered conflicts with an existing node number, you will see an
error message and must change the number to a valid value.
4.139 Description and Username: You can enter a new description or username for the node
by selecting the appropriate field and then entering the new information in the text box. Then
press
acters and usernames can contain up to 10 characters. Do not use slash (/), backslash (\), verti-
cal slash (|), or tilde (~) characters in usernames. Do not use Control characters in descriptions
or usernames.
4.140 Deleting a Node and its Devices: Prior to v9.0, when deleting a node, you first had to
first manually search for and remove all of the node's devices. In system software v9.0 and
later, you can delete the node, and all of the node's devices in one step.
4.141 To delete a node, right-click the node under System\Devices and Feature Codes\Nodes,
and select
devices.
4.142 In this example, the dialog box displays all of the off-node devices associated with node
97002. To delete the node and the associated devices, click
