7. ATM ADAPTER CARD
7.1
For an ATM system (v6.0 or later), your CP Server comes equipped with an ATM
adapter card. This card has a UTP5 or OC-3 connector that provides the interface for the ATM
Switch (see the following illustration).

This card comes pre-programmed for use with the ATM Switch.
8. PCI PC WATCHDOG BOARD
8.1
The hardware watchdog board is designed to reset the CP Server when it fails to operate
for some unknown reason. This allows the PC to reboot and continue operation, which is very
important for unmonitored systems. Previously, the Inter-Tel
used, but, due to compatibility issues, this card was replaced in v6.0.
8.2
The new card is the PCI PC Watchdog™ board. This PCI-based card is supported by
Windows 2000 and Windows NT and has the ability to disable the watchdog timing. (For
details about the board, refer to the manual included with the board.)
A. BASIC OPERATION
8.3
The PCI PC Watchdog™ board has eight DIP switches, which are all OFF by default.
For proper operation of the CP Server, two of these switches, 5 and 7, must be ON.
8.4
Switch 5 represents the Power On Delay (POD) operation. If the POD is not ON, the
card will wait 2.5 minutes after powering on before arming itself. After armed, it will expect an
application to "tickle" the watchdog every five seconds; otherwise, the PC will reset. By
enabling the POD switch, the card will not arm itself until it receives its first "tickle."
8.5
Switches 6, 7, and 8, determine the default amount of time before the PC will reset
when it has not been tickled. By default, this is five seconds. For the CP Server, make sure
switches 6 and 8 are OFF, but switch 7 is ON to change this time to 30 seconds.
8.6
After the switches are properly set, the Inter-Tel Watchdog Service will "tickle" the PCI
PC Watchdog board every two seconds after the card is armed. If the Watchdog Service is
stopped manually, the watchdog timing is disabled, and the PC will not reboot.
