13. BACKUP FILES

13.1 With access to a hard disk, call processing now has the ability to backup the memory-
mapped files to disk. This gives the CP Server a tremendous amount of data collection ability.
13.2 For example, if the CP Queue memory mapped file is set to 1 MB, the default value of
20 backup files would give you 20 MB of CP history queue data. The number of backup files
can be changed using the configuration utility.
13.3 The message print log, reset log, and exception log are backed up in a similar fashion.
See "Retrieving CP History Information" below for information about specifying backup file
location and numbers.

14. SYSTEM RECOVERY

14.1 Every CPS is shipped with a recovery CD/DVD located inside the chassis. If it ever
becomes necessary to reinstall the operating system, you must use the recovery CD/DVD to
return the unit to its original condition. Refer to the Recovery Instructions for PC-Based Prod-
ucts (part no. 835.2759) included with the recovery DVD for details.
14.2 If this unit was originally shipped with an E:\ partition and backup directories, you must
recreate the E:\ partition and necessary backup directories on the unit as part of this recovery
process.
14.3 To recreate the E:\ partition and required directories:
Open the Windows Disk Management utility.
1.
Right-click the unpartitioned E:\ to create a primary partition.
2.
Follow the steps to format the partition with the NTFS file system.
3.
When the partitioning process completes, verify that the partition is labeled "E:\" and
4.
then create the proper backup directories on this partition:
14.4 The automatic data backup process does not occur if you do not create the proper
backup directories.
