TOLL STRINGS

9.29 Toll strings are dialing patterns which are abbreviated to single character "wildcards."
These wildcards are used in Class of Service and Automatic Route Selection programming.
Toll strings can contain any digit 0-9 including the keypad special characters # and *. In addi-
tion, a variety of special characters may be entered into the database to reflect particular digit
strings, hookflashes/recalls, or special digit strings. Each of the following toll string wildcards
can be reprogrammed and/or renamed to meet the customer's requirements. However, note
that changing these dialing patterns will affect all of the other parts of the system where they
are used. To change the description of a pattern, select the current description and then enter
the new description in the text box. Then press
change. To change the patterns within the toll string, double-click on the toll string to view the
current pattern(s). Then do the following:
9.30 To add a dial pattern to the toll string: Note that this is an ordered list. Place the
devices in the list in the order you want them to be accessed.
To add to the bottom of the list: Do not highlight any existing patterns and right-click
anywhere in the right side of the window and select
space, press
To add to the list above an existing device: Highlight the device below the location
where you want the new entry and then right-click. Then select
pattern appears above the pattern you highlighted.
9.31 To delete a dial pattern from the toll string: To delete one or more patterns from the
list, highlight them and then right-click. Select

9.32 To move a pattern to another location in the list: Drag and drop the pattern to the
new position. Or, highlight the pattern to move and press
the pattern up or down in the list.
9.33 To program the digits for a pattern: Select the current Value for the pattern and enter
the new digits in the text box. Then press
9.34 The first table on the next page shows the programmable toll string wildcards. The sec-
ond table on the next page shows the special characters that may be used when specifying dial-
ing patterns; these characters are not programmable.
