work domain, username, and password. Unfortunately, Microsoft is not guaranteeing compatibil-
ity with new releases of their software. This renders information encrypted under one release
unreadable under the next release. To avoid this problem, Inter-Tel has completely discarded
Microsoft's encryption scheme in system versions 4.4 and later. Therefore, because version 4.3
Voice Processing databases use the Microsoft encryption scheme, any upgrade from 4.3 to a
later version will require the installer to re-enter these three fields of the network account infor-
mation. However, once the Voice Processing Unit is upgraded from 4.3 and the network infor-
mation is re-entered and saved using Inter-Tel's encryption scheme, any further system
upgrades will automatically update these fields.
