MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
A CPC supports only systems with 64, 128, or 256 devices. For 512 devices and higher,
Because the CPC has an IP port, there is a risk of security violations. Inter-Tel strongly
recommends that you install the CPC behind a firewall or NAT box.
If upgrading from a CPU64 or CPU128, you must first remove any Network Clock
Cards (NCCs) from the chassis's backplane before installing the new CPC. If you do
not remove NCCs from the backplane, the system will continually reset.
To install the CPC in the chassis:
Make sure all power supply AC POWER switches are turned OFF. Installing the CPC
with the power on may damage the circuitry on the card.
Measure the rechargeable battery voltage. The voltage test points are located on the top
of the battery itself (+) and underneath the battery, on the opposite side of the card (-).
To test the voltage:
Insert the "common" voltmeter probe into the ground point (the hole underneath
a.
the battery).
Place the other probe on the voltage test point (+).
b.
If the voltage is not greater than 3.3VDC, the battery may need recharging. Allow the
battery to recharge for at least another five hours and then test it again. If the voltage is
still not greater than 3.3VDC, replace the CPC.
Install the CPC with the components facing right in the last (8th) card slot in the chas-
sis.
NOTE:
Dual-chassis systems require only one CPC to control the entire system. How-
ever, the CPC must be installed in the eighth slot of the left-hand chassis (as viewed
from the front).
Turn ON the AC POWER switch and observe the LEDs on the front edge of the card.
The top four LEDs should sequentially flash in an up and down pattern for approxi-
mately 10 seconds. Then the CPU Active LED should light.
NOTE:
When a new system is installed, the DATABASE ERROR LED remains lit until
any changes are made to the system database. The MINOR ALARM LED may also be
lit and can later be cleared from an administrator station using the Clear System Alarm
feature code (default is 9850).
Upload the software license (see
NOTE:
Inter-Tel highly recommends that you upload the software license before
attempting to program the database. If you do not upload the software license, Alarm
125 will be generated, and "License Error" will display on administrator phones. In addi-
tion, the system will reset every four hours until a valid license is uploaded (see
20).
If the CPC does not have the appropriate system software already installed in flash
memory, use the Board Utility to upload the software from the programming PC to the
card.
