C. MAJOR RESET SCHEDULING
8.12 A system reset is required to ensure proper system operation after any cards or devices
are equipped or unequipped, an extension list is changed, a trunk group list is changed, or an
extension number is changed. A delayed reset can be enabled as described below.
NOTE:
However, a delayed system reset will check system activity at the scheduled time and wait for
the system to become idle and any active programming session to end before allowing the reset
to occur. A system reset is no longer required for UCD or ACD hunt groups after the hunt group
member list changes.
8.13 System Requires Reset: (Read Only) This field indicates if Call Processing requires a
reset. If Yes is displayed, the system will reset at the time indicated in the System Delayed
Major Reset field. If No is displayed, a delayed major reset will not occur, even if one is sched-
uled. (This field was previously called System Required Reset.)
8.14 Scheduled Reset Time: If the System Requires Reset flag is enabled, this field deter-
mines the default time for scheduled system resets. Scheduled major resets can be scheduled
when system administrators program the database or when
Operations menu. To program the default time for delayed resets of the system, select the cur-
rent hours, minutes, or AM/PM value and then scroll to or enter new setting in the text box.

8.15 In previous versions, a scheduled major reset was required when various programming
operations were completed. As of version 8.224, however, the following operations no longer
require a major reset:
Changing ACD agent IDs.
Changing extension numbers (this includes any extension number, not just UCD/ACD,
such as station, trunk group, etc.)
8.16 Because the major reset is not required for these actions, administrators are not
prompted to perform an immediate or scheduled reset if performed from an administrator's
phone. Instead, these database changes take effect immediately.
8.17 Force Reset If Not Idle: Normally, the system will not perform a major reset if there
are any active calls. However, if this flag is enabled, the system will force a major reset at the
specified time. The time is either the Scheduled Reset Time or the Scheduled Reset Time pro-
grammed above. The major reset will cause all active calls on the system to be dropped. The
flag should be used only on systems which are busy 24 hours each day and, therefore, do not
have a consistent time when all resources are idle and a normal delayed major reset can be per-
formed. This flag affects any request to perform a major reset, whether it be by the system
itself for resource reconciliation, or requested through DB Programming. The default for this
flag is disabled. (This field was previously called Forced Delayed Major Reset.) To enable this
flag, select the current Value and then select the check box to place a check in it. Then press
ENTER
select the check box again.)
