B. NETWORK GROUPS
20.6 Network Groups define the IP devices, MGCP/SIP gateways, SIP trunks, SIP end-
points, and MGCP endpoints that can connect to each other using P2P audio. Only devices
within the same Network Group can talk to each other using P2P audio. Even devices that are
on separate nodes must be in the same Network Group. For example, for devices on node 2 to
communicate via P2P with devices on node 3, both nodes must have the same Network Group,
with the same extension programmed. The associated devices on each node must then be mem-
bers of that group. If two devices are in separate Network Groups, P2P is not used, and the call
is routed through the chassis.
Network Broadcast of Network Group's Extension
20.7 In system software v9.0 and later, when you create a Network Group (see
the creation is marked by a network broadcast of the Network Group's extension. When the
broadcast is received by the remote node, the Network Group is automatically created if it does
not already exist. The broadcast messages sends the Network Group's extension number and
the value you select for the Use Peer-to-Peer Audio flag (
default, the Use Peer-to-Peer Audio flag is set to
Group's extension or the value set for the Use Peer-to-Peer Audio flag, the updated informa-
tion is sent to the other nodes in the network.
20.8 Because creating or updating Network Groups has system-wide effects, DB Studio dis-
plays the following warning when you create or change a Network Group.
20.9 If there is a conflicting (duplicate) Network Group extension in a broadcast from
another node, the receiving node ignores the new extension in favor of its existing extension
number. If the value for the Use Peer-to-Peer Audio flag differs, the receiving node's flag is
overwritten by the broadcasting node. No broadcast message is sent when you delete a Net-
work Group.
NOTE:
moved to the Default Network Group. The Default Network Group cannot be deleted.
Export/Import Network Groups
20.10 Normally, when a node adds a new Network Group or changes an existing one, the
node broadcasts the new extension information to the other nodes in the network. If another
node does not receive the broadcast (e.g., DB Studio is active on the node, the node is down,
etc.) the Export/Import function located on the Operations menu (see
to export/import Network Groups information to/from another node.
20.11 When you import or export Network Groups information and there is a conflicting
(duplicate) Network Group extension in a broadcast from another node, the receiving node
ignores the new extension in favor of its existing extension number. If there is a conflicting
value for the Use Peer-to-Peer Audio flag between nodes (one node's flag is set to
