In addition to the details defined for various database items (see Merged Items), the fol-
lowing occurs during a database merge:
When a device or item is merged, its associated mailbox is merged at the same time. If
a device limit is exceeded, however, the associated mailbox is not merged.
Each device is merged until the database maximum is reached. If this limit is exceeded,
all references to items that cannot be merged are cleaned up in the same way that DB
Test cleans up an unused device. In some cases, this involves removing the item from a
list, setting the device to "None," or resetting the entry to another item of the same type.
The Merge Utility attempts to merge all items from each database, even if some items
can no longer be merged due to system capacity limits.
All details of the merge, including every extension and hardware address change, are
displayed in the merge log.

During the merge process, every problem and change, including hardware and exten-
sion address changes, are displayed in the merge log file. As the items are merged into the
master database, any off-node devices are deleted, and any references to these devices are
resolved to the new local node device.
