8.18 Prior to performing this procedure, make sure you have:
All necessary history and exception log information.
A copy of the license to reload on the CPC.
A backup copy of the CPC database.
8.19 To default the CPC:
Turn ON the power to the CPC and wait for the LEDs to begin cycling. This process

takes 10-15 seconds.
Press the * button exactly four times. All LEDs will light when the button is pressed.

Wait for the LED cycle process to complete.
3.
If the button was pressed exactly four times, all LEDs light for 1-2 seconds.
4.
If the button was not pressed four times, the CPC boots as normal. Repeat steps 1-3.

Press the button exactly once more while the LEDs are all lit. After a few seconds, the

CPC will boot as normal.
If the button was pressed exactly once, the CPC is defaulted and restored to the "fac-
tory" settings. The card then resets.
If the button was not pressed exactly once, the CPC boots as normal. Repeat steps 1-4.
It is extremely important that you wait until the CPC resets itself at the end of the process.
Resetting the CPC while it is erasing/debugging can have catastrophic effects on the CPC.
You can use a terminal emulation program to view this process. See
8.20 If the process was successful, the LEDs begin rapidly flashing while the CPC erases or
restores default settings. The CPC will remain in this state for approximately 60 seconds. After
the procedure is successful, the CPU Active and DB Error LEDs should be solidly lit. Alarm
125 is then generated to indicate that the CPC does not have a valid license. When this occurs,
upload the license.
