DTC P2101: Throttle Actuator System
Malfunction
1. Record this freeze data:
• Engine speed
• Vehicle speed
• Accelerator position
2. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
3. Do the ETCS TEST in the INSPECTION MENU w i t h
the HDS.
4. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P2101 indicated?
Y E S — G o to step 7.
NO—Go t o step 5.
5. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the
range of the recorded freeze data.
6. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P2101 indicated?
Y E S — G o to step 7.
NO—Intermittent failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the throttle body and the throttle actuator control
m o d u l e , then clean the throttle body (see page
1 1 - 3 8 1 ) . •
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
8. Disconnect the intake air duct f r o m the throttle
body.
9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
10. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
11. Do the ETCS TEST in the INSPECTION M E N U w i t h
the HDS.
12. Visually check the throttle valve operation.
NOTE: Be careful not to pinch your fingers during
the check.
Does the throttle valve operate smoothly?
Y E S — C l e a n the throttle body (see page 11-381),
then g o t o step 20 and recheck. If DTC P2101 is
indicated, go to step 18.
NO—Go to step 13.
13. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
14. Disconnect the throttle body 6P connector.
15. Disconnect the throttle actuator control m o d u l e 16P
connector (see page 11-265).
16. Connect throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5
and No. 6 w i t h a j u m p e r w i r e .
