Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) System
D T C T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g ( c o n t ' d )
DTC 2649: VTEC Solenoid Valve Circuit Low
Voltage
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
3. Do the VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU w i t h
the HDS.
4. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P2649
indicated?
Y E S — I n t e r m i t t e n t failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the VTEC solenoid valve and the PCM.B
N O — G o t o step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Disconnect the VTEC solenoid valve 2P connector.
7. Measure resistance between VTEC solenoid valve
2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Q ?
Y E S — G o t o step 8.
N O — G o t o step 25.
8. J u m p the SCS line w i t h the HDS.
9. Disconnect the engine m o u n t control unit 20P
connector.
10. Disconnect the active noise control (ANC) unit 16P
connector.
11. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
12. Check for continuity between PCM connector
terminal E21 and body g r o u n d .

continuity?
Y E S — R e p a i r short in the w i r e between the VTEC
solenoid valve, the engine m o u n t control unit, the
active noise control (ANC) unit and the PCM (E21),
then g o t o step 26.
N O — G o t o step 13.
13. Reconnect the VTEC solenoid valve 2P connector.
14. Reconnect the active noise control (ANC) unit 16P
connector.
15. Reconnect PCM connector E (31P).
16. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
17. Do the VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU w i t h
the HDS.
18. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P2649
indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 19.
NO—Replace the engine m o u n t control unit
(see page 11-323), then go to step 26.
