Distinctive Ringing — Calls placed using ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC, which terminate on the on
the same switch as the caller, will result in the called endpoint to ringing with the administered internal
ring pattern.
Integrated Directory (Local Directory) — The Integrated Directory feature only displays internal
extensions.Nevertheless, even in a network in which users are required to dial ARS/AAR Dialing without
FAC numbers for on-switch calls, a user can use the 'Call Display' button to call another user whose
number he/she looked up using the Integrated Directory.
Leave Word Calling (LWC) - Switch — The ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC number must be used
when sending or canceling a LWC message for another user on the same system, if the system requires
ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC for on-switch calls. It cannot, however, be used in conjunction with DCS
LWC.
Leave Word Calling - Switch - Return Call (Call Display) — See "Message Retrieval - From Display
Set" below.
Message Retrieval - From Display Set — The Message Retrieval feature only displays internal
extensions.Nevertheless, even in a network in which users are required to dial ARS/AAR Dialing without
FAC numbers for on-switch calls, a user can use the Call Display button to return a call from another
user who left a Leave Word Calling message.
Malicious Call Trace (MCT) — The MCT feature displays the internal extension of an on-switch
malicious caller.
Priority Calling — This feature works on calls placed using ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC which
terminate on the originating switch. It cannot, however, be used in conjunction with DCS Priority
Calling.
Whisper Page — The ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC number must be used when invoking Whisper
Page for another user, if ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC is used to reach the extension for intra-switch
calls.
Administration/Reporting Interactions
Attendant Direct Extension Selection with Busy Lamp — An attendant implicitly uses the internal
extension when accessing individual extensions using a Direct Extension Selection (DXS) module. In
other words, the customer must administer the leading digits of the internal extensions when
administering a DXS module. The attendant can, nevertheless, use a DXS module to place calls to and
monitor activity on internal extensions, even if ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC is used for on-switch
calls.
Adjunct Switch Applications Interface (ASAI) - Adjunct Routing — An ASAI adjunct can specify an
ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC number when using adjunct routing to place an outbound call. However,
only the "short" (internal) extension is reported in event reports sent to an ASAI adjunct
Administrable Timers - Software-Affecting System Timers - Short Interdigit Timer — The short
interdigit timer is used to route calls to internal extensions if
2
ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC numbers share the same first digit as the internal extension
3
the extension is shorter than the minimum-length ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC number, and
4
the extension is "dialable."
