3-Digit UDP: This allows 3-digit UDP. However, DCS will not work in a dial scheme of less
than 4 digits. For feature transparency, QSIG needs to be utilized for signaling.
NOTE:
It is highly recommended that ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC be only used when dialing
ARS without a FAC to reach outside CO trunks. If using the feature to expand dial plan
lengths beyond 7-digits for internal extensions across a private network (QSIG or DCS) a
variety of feature interactions could occur including affecting the information shown on
display telephones, telephony features and call center features. ARS/AAR Dialing without
FAC has not been tested against all possible feature interactions in an intra-switch
networked environment and therefore is not recommended for this use.
Extensions
A dialable extension is an extension that is can be dialed without going through ARS or AAR routing.
A non-dialable extension is one that can only be dialed using ARS or AAR routing. It cannot be dialed
as administered. It must be dialed with a prefix as a longer number than the administered extension
number.
An internal extension is the normal extension number(3-5 digits) as administered on a station.
The following general rules can be used to determine how non-dialable extensions interact with a given
feature:
When an extension is dialed either directly from a station or during a feature invocation (e.g.,
abbreviated dialing, priority calling, call-forwarding, leave word calling), the ARS/AAR Dialing
without FAC must be used.
When a feature is being administered on behalf of a station user (e.g., coverage paths, security
violation notification), the internal extension must be entered through the administration tool.
Feature Interactions
AAR/ARS-like interactions
The following features interact with ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC in the same manner as AAR and
ARS with the exception that the Feature Access Code (FAC) is not used.
Automatic Alternate Routing (AAR) — When an aar entry in the First Digit Table is used to
route a call, the caller has access to all AAR features.
Automatic Route Selection (ARS) — When an entry in the First Digit Table is used to route a
call, the caller has access to all ARS features.
