Automatic Incoming Call Display
Incoming calls are not displayed if Idle Appearance Preference is activated.
Call Coverage
If you administer Cover All Calls as the redirection criterion for a telephone, administer Idle
Appearance Preference for the telephone. The called party can then lift the handset without
accidentally connecting to a call that should be screened.
Integrated Services Digital Network — Basic Rate Interface
When an Integrated Services Digital Network-Basic Rate Interface (ISDN-BRI) telephone (with
Select Last Used Appearance enabled) transfers a call while off-hook by using the handset, the
user hears dial tone on the last-used call appearance. Users of other telephone types hear silence in
this case.

NAT and NAT Shuffling

Network Address Translation (NAT)
realm into IP addresses in another realm. This helps with the growing issue of a shortage of IPv4
addresses as an organization using NAT needs fewer unique, globally registered IP addresses; IP
addresses are reused behind each NAT device. Avaya Communication Manager supports both IP
telephones and IP softphones being located behind a NAT device.
IP-to-IP direct calls are supported for NAT-translated Avaya IP telephones and IP softphones. That is,
calls for NAT-translated IP terminals can be shuffled. Shuffling means rerouting the audio channel
connecting two IP endpoints. After shuffling, the audio which previously was carried in a "mixed"
connection of both IP signaling and TDM bus signaling, now goes directly through the LAN or WAN
between the two IP endpoints. Shuffling also can mean reversing this process if an endpoint requests a
resource to support a feature, such as enhanced conferencing that requires the TDM bus.
Avaya does not support Port Address Translation (PAT) or many-to-one NAT.
