Network Address Translation (NAT)
A method which maps an unregistered (native) IP address to a registered (translated) IP address in the
public network (i.e. the internet). This provides for fewer unique, registered IP addresses needed by
an organization, as unregistered IP addresses are reused behind each NAT device.
network-specific facility (NSF)
An information element in an ISDN-PRI message that specifies which public-network service is used.
NSF applies only when Call-by-Call Service Selection is used to access a public-network service.
network interface
A common boundary between two systems in an interconnected group of systems.
