Number of Licenses
12.8 The system stores up to five different licenses, each of which is unique based on the
system version. For example, only one v11.0 software license can be stored on the system. If a
new license that matches the version number of an existing license is loaded, the new license
automatically overwrites the existing license.
12.9 In addition, if five licenses are currently stored and a sixth license is saved, the oldest
license, based on the date and time the license was created, is overwritten. If, however, the old-
est license is currently in use, the next oldest license is overwritten. In addition, because each
license is unique, only one license for each version number can be stored at any time.
C. IP ENDPOINT LICENSING
12.10 This section identifies the types of IP endpoints that the Axxess platform supports and
the process used for activation of licensed endpoints.
Types of IP Endpoints
12.11 The following list identifies the types of IP endpoints that operate on the system. For
specifications and illustrations of the endpoints, see "Station Instruments" on

Endpoint License Activation Process
12.14 Only the multi-protocol IP endpoints require a license in order to operate on the Axxess
system. Although you can program IP endpoints into the database without having an adequate
number of licenses, the system allows only the number of endpoints to come on-line for which
licenses exist. The system assigns licenses to endpoints on a first-come, first-served basis.
However, once the available licenses have been assigned, the system prevents additional IP
endpoints from coming on-line. As additional IP endpoint licenses are loaded into software, the
system brings programmed but unactivated endpoints on-line, as appropriate. For detailed
information about setting-up IP endpoints for service, see the INSTALLATION and PRO-
GRAMMING chapters.
12.15 When IP endpoints fail to come on-line, the Message Print log identifies the excluded
endpoint extensions. At the same time, Alarm #127—Unlicensed IP device failed to come on-
line—appears on the unit chassis LCD panel and on the Administrator endpoint display(s).
