7.11 The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows the descriptions of the menu options
and the total number of sessions saved.
D. SESSION MANAGER FIELDS
7.12 Session Description: For a new session, enter the desired description in the Session
Description field, up to 40 characters. To display a previously saved session, open the session
description drop down list box and select the desired entry.
7.13 Session Type Tabs: Four types of sessions are supported, as shown on the tabs at the
bottom of the screen: local database, direct cable, modem, and network. The Session Manager
requires you to enter the following information before a session can begin.
Local Database: A local session allows you to change your database selection, use the
current selection, or use a default database.
Direct Cable: For a direct connection, you must select the communications port and set
the bit rate to match that of the system associated with the session. Use the list boxes to
scroll to the proper settings.
Modem: To set up a modem connection, you must enter the phone number and type of
the modem device before beginning the session.

Change Selection: When a local session is started, you will be prompted to select
the database for this session. If a Current Selection exists for this session, it will be
deleted.
Current Selection: This option uses the same database from the previous local ses-
sion. If a previous selection was made, the database version will be displayed next
to the current selection option.
Default: When you start a local session, a screen will be displayed asking you to
select the version of the System database and whether it is a dual or quad system.
Port: Select the PC COM port that is used for the direct connection.
Speed: Set the bit per second (bps) rate for the specified COM port.
System version: This is the version of the system that will be connected to the Ses-
sion Manager. If the session manager connects to the system and the version is
incorrect, the session manager will attempt to reconnect with the correct version if
it is installed on a PC. Updating the system version on this tab will also update it
on every other tab it appears on.
Phone Number: Enter the phone number you will dial to reach the System's
modem.
Modem: Select the name of the modem to use. A drop down list box appears with
the names of all the modems installed in your PC.
System Version: This is the version of the system that will be connected to the Ses-
sion Manager. If the session manager connects to the system and the version is
incorrect, the session manager will attempt to reconnect with the correct version if
it is installed on a PC. Updating the system version on this tab will also update it
on every other tab it appears on.
Settings: If you select this button, the settings for the selected modem will be dis-
played.
