IP AND FRAME RELAY DEVICES
8.15 You can use IP or frame relay devices, such as the IP Networking Modules (previously
called InterPrise 3200N), to provide networking support between system nodes. No special
programming is required when using IP devices or frame-relay devices in place of T1, E1/PRI,
or T1/E1/PRI connections. Each remote node still has programmed node trunk groups and off-
node devices.
8.16 When planning the system, note that each node trunk group can have up to 23 trunks
[30 trunks in Europe], thus limiting the number of incoming and outgoing calls. Make sure you
have enough T1/PRI, E1/PRI, or T1/E1/PRI cards connected to the IP or frame-relay device(s)
to support the customer's call load.
8.17 Refer to the manuals provided with the IP or frame relay device for hardware informa-
tion and programming procedures.
8.18 U.S. and U.K. Networking: The U.K. versions software allow the capability to net-
work U.S. and U.K. systems together using the Inter-Tel IP Networking Module Products. Any
5.x version of U.S. software can network with a U.K. system. This feature is enabled by a flag
called Network with United States, which is available in the U.K. version only. This flag is
located under System/Flags.
8.19 Although this is not a choice for the U.S. systems, it is mentioned in this document so
that U.S. users are aware of the option to have U.S. systems networked to U.K. systems.
NOTE:
or later.
G. COMMUNICATION PARAMETERS
8.20 The on-site programming PC and SMDR/error message output devices must communi-
cate at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, or 38400 bps, depending on the selected port. Sys-
tem bit rates are set independently in DB Programming. Other specifications include:
NOTE:
bps. See
8.21 For more information on configuring a serial port, see
