N. VOICE PROCESSOR NETWORK CAPABILITIES
6.24 A Voice Processor can be installed on any or all nodes in the phone system network.
These Voice Processors can also be networked together to allow a caller to leave a message on
the local Voice Processor for a mailbox located on another Voice Processor in the network.
There can be up to 100 nodes in the Voice Processor network.
6.25 Each Voice Processor has its own internal message queue (similar to a mailbox's mes-
sage queues) and stores messages destined for other Voice Processing Units until they are
delivered.
NOTE:
license is required to use Voice Processing Nodes. See
6.26 The Voice Processing Node programming area is used to identify and define informa-
tion about each node (unit) in the Voice Processing network. Before the local Voice Processing
Unit can deliver messages to another Voice Processing node in the network, the remote node
must be included in the local table.
6.27 Mailboxes programmed on the local node, but associated with mailboxes on remote
Voice Processing nodes are referred to as "network mailboxes." They are used the by the local
Voice Processor to identify and locate the mailboxes located on the other Voice Processing
nodes. They are not actual mailboxes; they are just "place holders" that tell the local node
where to send messages received for that mailbox number. If the mailbox subscriber logs on to
a network mailbox, the only options available are the directory name, the password, and possi-
bly the transfer method programming prompt, if enabled.
6.28 There are several methods available for Voice Processing networks. The networking
method determines how the local node communicates with the remote node. The networking
methods include the following:
AMIS: AMIS is an analog networking protocol that uses the public telephone network.
TCPIP: TCPIP is a direct network connection between the local Voice Processor and
the remote Voice Processor.
