Music-On-Hold for Call-Routing Tables
10.129Inter-Tel Axxess Call Processing manages the audio connections for incoming Public
Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls. Currently, when a device places a call on hold, the
trunk settings determine how it provides hold audio for the outside party. This determination is
based on the settings at the Central Office (CO) trunk group to which the trunk resides. The
settings include "Music-On-Hold," "Audio on Transfer to Ring," "Audio on Transfer to Hold,"
and "Audio on Hold for Transfer Announcement." Each of these fields allows for various
options, including Silence, Tick Tone, Ringback, Board, Music-On-Hold, and Use Next
Device's Audio Source. See
10.130Call Processing (CP) v11.0 modifies this functionality such that CO trunk calls routed
through Call Routing Tables (CRTs) use the matching CRT entry's "Music-On-Hold Profile" to
overwrite the settings at the CO Trunk Group.

10.132If the matching CRT entry does not have a "Music-On-Hold Profile" set or the call is
not routed through a CRT, the trunk determines the audio setting based on the CO Trunk Group
settings as in previous versions. Therefore, the "Music-On-Hold Profile" in the matching CRT
entry has priority over the audio settings in the CO Trunk Group.
10.133If CRT entries are "chained" (a CRT entry may point to another CRT), the last match-
ing CRT entry in the chain with a Music-On-Hold Profile set to anything other than "None"
will take precedence. If the last matching CRT entry has a Music-On-Hold Profile set to
"None," the associated CO Trunk Group settings apply.
10.134When the Music-On-Hold selection is set for a specific call, that Music-On-Hold set-
ting will persist through the duration of the call even if that call is forwarded, moved or trans-
ferred. The following case scenarios describe how this feature works:
10.135To support this functionality, there is a new "Music-On-Hold Profiles" folder in v11.0
DB Programming. This field provides the same Music-On-Hold fields that currently exist in a
CO Trunk Group. Each profile also contains a profile ID and name. You may then create or
modify an entry in a CRT to have a specific called number or caller number use the "Music-
On-Hold Profile," instead of the CO Trunk Group settings.

Several businesses share a single phone system. Due to the layout and size of the com-
panies involved, each business does not require its own CO Trunk Group. However,
each business in the group owns a specific subset of the Direct Inward Dialing (DID)
numbers available. These businesses require their own Music-On-Hold played for call-
ers. Using the new feature, each business would have a Music-On-Hold capable board
assigned and would specify that board within the CRT entry for the matching called
number.
A business sells several different products. Customers call different numbers based on
the product of interest. Management would like customers to hear Music-On-Hold
based on the product in question. This feature would allow the specific CRT entry to
dictate which board provides the Music-On-Hold for the incoming calls.
