Optional Personal Computer Data Port Module (PCDPM)
5.23 For off-hook voice announce receive capability, and to allow an optional DSS/BLF Unit
and/or an optional Modem Data Port Module to be installed, any Standard Display, Associate
Display, Executive Display, Professional Display, Model 8520, or Model 8560 Phone may be
equipped with an optional PC Data Port Module. For the Executive Display and Standard Dis-
play Phones, PCDPM – part no. 550.3018 or 550.3014 [PB2585 or PB2549-A in Europe] or is
required. For the Model 8520 and 8560 Phones, the PCDPM required is part no. 550.8400. For
the Professional Display and Associate Display Phones, the PCDM requires is part no.
560.3018 is required.
5.24 The original model PCDPM (part no. 550.3014) for the Executive Display and Standard
Display Phones was replaced with a new model (part no. 550.3018). The new PCDPM (part
no. 550.3018), the Model 8520/8560 PCDPM (part no. 550.8400), and the Professional Dis-
play and Associate Display PCDM (part no. 560.3018) do not require an external AC trans-
former (see
instructions included with the new unit. If a DSS/BLF Unit is not installed on the module's
RS232 port, the port can be used to connect an SMDR/error message output device or a per-
sonal computer. See

5.26 Executive Display, Professional Display, Standard Display, Associate Display, Model
8520, or Model 8560 Phones equipped with PC Data Port Modules may also be equipped with
optional Modem Data Port Modules – part no. 550.3015 [PB2549-A in Europe]. The MDPM
contains a jack that can be used to connect a data device (such as a personal computer
equipped with a modem) or a single-line set to the Executive Display, Professional Display,
Standard Display, Associate Display, Model 8520, or Model 8560 Phone. Each MDPM is pow-
ered by its own AC transformer. The MDPM – part no. 550.3015 [PB2549-A in Europe]
includes an AC transformer; it no longer needs to be ordered separately.

5.27 The data device attached to the MDPM must have a direct-connection modem. The
modem must be externally powered (or capable of operating on 20mA of loop current) and
have an RJ11 CO interface.
