14.7 The RJ45 connector on the Network Interface Card connects to the LAN via a cus-
tomer-provided standard network interface cable.
14.8 If configuring an ATM-based system, you should place the Voice Processing Unit close
to the first chassis that provides the first eight voice mail ports. The first chassis must also host
the Options Card (OPC), which is used for the remaining 32 voice mail ports.
14.9 When connecting the Voice Processing Unit to the first chassis, you can use either an
RS232 or TCP/IP connection. It is, however, recommended that you use TCP/IP because TCP/
IP is faster. The voice mail should also be configured to match the end-user's Ethernet net-
work.

and keep them in their protective bags until they are to be installed. Do not bend or
touch the pins of the components or subject them to a static discharge. When work-
ing with the cards, use a properly terminated anti-static wrist strap and cover the
work surface with the bag that protected the card during shipping. Any static dis-
charge (no matter how small the charge) must be discharged from the body before
touching the cards or components. The warranty for this equipment does not cover
damage caused by static or mishandling. Cards or components damaged in such a
manner cannot be replaced.

set the bracket and screw aside.

should be installed so that the VPCs can all be placed to one side of the card. (See
