later. On older version systems, the DKSC-16+ operates the same as a DKSC-16.
4.92 Up to 20 phones on the DKSCs (including the DKSC-16 and DKSC-16+) may be
equipped with single DSS/BLF Units or up to five Executive Display Phones, Professional
Display Phones, Standard Display Phones, Associate Display Phones, Model 8560 Phones, or
Model 8520 Phones may be equipped with four units each (or any combination of the two up
to 20 total units). Executive Display, Professional Display, Standard Display, Associate Dis-
play, Model 8520, and Model 8560 Phones connect to a 60-key or 50-key DSS/BLF Unit. Each
DSS/BLF Unit is connected to the optional PC Data Port Module (PCDPM) on the back of the
corresponding phone. Unlike many other systems, the DSS/BLF Units do not require equip-
ment chassis cabling separate from the phone's cabling; instead, they are powered by their own
AC transformer.
NOTE:
phone. For example, if you have a Model 8560 with a Mini-DSS, you can still connect up to four
DSS/BLF Units to the phone. The Mini-DSS can connect to a Model 8520 or Model 8560 Phone
only.
4.93 Each card has a green LED (CARD ON-LINE) to indicate the card's functional readi-
ness and a yellow LED (CIRCUIT BUSY) to indicate if any circuit on the card is busy (see

of the card to help prevent electromagnetic interference.
NOTE:
DKSC-16 or DKSC-16+ is listening to background music.
4.94 DKSC-16 or DKSC-16+ Extended Loop Length Modification: For longer station
loop lengths (up to 154 ohms/3000 ft), an optional customer-supplied, external power supply
can be connected to the DKSC-16 termination block. You can use the Inter-Tel 30V power sup-
ply for 108 ohms/2100 feet. Or you can purchase the +36VDC External Power Supply Kit (kit
part no. 928.3705).
4.95 This option is available only on DKSC-16s that are at revision level "2.0" or later or
that have been modified and labeled with FSM100995. The external power supply is connected
to pins 50 (+36V, V/SL) and 25 (GND, SL/V) on the termination block. In addition, the strap
on jumper JP1 must be placed over pins 1 and 2 to enable the external power supply.
Single-Line Adapter (SLA)
4.96 An SLA, which can be installed on an available DKSC or DKSC-16 circuit, is used for
connecting up to two AC-ringing single-line DTMF or pulse-tone sets, playback devices, and/
or off-premises extensions. As many SLAs as desired can be installed on the system (up to the
maximum number of available system ports – 256 for dual-chassis systems, 512 for quad-chas-
sis systems). Version 2.x or later is required for pulse-tone sets.
4.97 With a U.S. system, an SLA can also be used for connecting up to two direct inward
dialing (DID) trunks. (Or one single-line set and one DID trunk.) The SLAs support pulse dial-
ing for both DID and single-line sets. See FEATURES,
using DID trunks. SLAs are shipped with both ports set for single-line device operation.
Before connecting a DID trunk, be sure to open the unit and set the corresponding port for DID
operation. Also, if necessary, adjust the hybrid balance setting to better accommodate longer
loop lengths. See
