with the system power turned ON, as long as the T1/PRI or E1/PRI trunk is not connected to the
card. However, before removing a T1 or E1/PRI Card while power is on, first press the make-
busy switch on the card and allow the system to "busy out" the T1/E1 and/or PRI trunk (wait for
the CIRCUIT BUSY LED to go out to avoid dropping calls; you may have to press the make-
busy switch more than once). Then unplug the T1/E1 and/or PRI trunk from the connector on
the card (see

10.40 If experiencing excessive E&M gain levels on a T1 Card that is not equipped with a
PRI Daughter card, two special software components and a TGC Daughter card (kit part no.
828.1397) can be attached to the card to provide 6 dB of attenuation.
10.41 To use the TGC Daughter card, the T1 Card must be at revision level "2.G" or later.

Ensure that each T1C or E1C to be installed is at the proper revision level and has the
appropriate software components installed (see
nent locations).
If a Primary Rate Interface trunk is connected to the T1 or E1 Card, attach the PRI
Daughter card as shown in
the standoffs are properly aligned and seated.
NOTE:
Unlike the CPU combinations, these cards are attached with the component
sides of the cards facing each other.
Check to see that all components on the card(s) are seated securely in their sockets and
that no pins are bent.
Install the T1Cs or E1/PRIs one at a time with the components facing right. The cards
may be installed in any of the first seven slots (in any chassis), and slots may be
skipped, if desired.
NOTE:
If, when first powered up, the actual cards installed do not exactly match the
default configuration, adjustments must be made in DB Programming. If changing card
types (e.g., changing from an LSC to a T1C or E1/PRI), see the programming proce-
dures on
page 6-114
and to the information on
T1 or E1 Card (T1C/E1C) and Primary Rate Interface (PRI) Daughter Card
for an illustration.
