12.15 When information spans several disks, the directory on the first disk ends with a "001"
suffix. The suffix increases with each disk required to save the information. The directory on
the last disk ends with an "END" suffix. For example, if mailbox information spans three
disks, the directory on the first disk would be A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.001, the directory on the
second disk would be A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.002, and the directory on the last disk would be
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.END. (If all of the mailbox information fits on one disk, there is no
suffix on the directory name.)
12.16 Recordings, such as messages and directory names, may actually consist of multiple
files (called segments). When these multi-file recordings are saved, they will have the filena-
mes that use the following naming convention. In the filenames below, "y" is a letter (A, B, C,
etc.) that specifies the voice-data segment. The xxxx is a sequence number that indicates the
message index (0001, 0002, 0003, etc.). R24 and R32 specify the voice-data recording format.
12.17 All user-recorded voice data (such as greetings and mailbox messages) are in R24 for-
mat. System-recorded voice data (such as a voice mail message from the system informing a
subscriber that there were 3 bad login attempts) are in R32 format. Most of the saved voice
data will be in R24 format.
12.18 Files containing the programmable data and message-envelope are text files. These files
always appear on a single floppy disk. They will never split and be saved across multiple disks.
However, voice data (such as directory name, greetings, or messages) can split across multiple
disks. When this happens, an incomplete file's filename ends in a hyphen (-). For example, if a
new message 1 (consisting of only one segment) spans three disks, it would be split into the
following files:
