H. SINGLE-LINE CARD (SLC) AND OPTIONAL LAMP OPTION CARD (LOC)
10.24 Install the Single-Line Cards (SLCs) and 16-port Single-Line Cards (SLC-16s) as
described below. Part numbers are listed in REPLACEMENT PARTS. See
page 3-119
10.25 An SLC-16 cannot be installed in a card slot that is programmed for an SLC. The ports
must be specifically programmed for an SLC-16. However, if port programming is changed
from SLC to SLC-16, the existing eight circuits retain their individual programming, and the
new circuits stay in the default state. If the port is changed from an SLC-16 to an SLC, all cir-
cuits retain their programming, but only the first eight are available.
10.26 Newer SLCs (with artwork number 826.4062-9 stamped on the card) have two onboard
ring generators and therefore have two jumpers that must be set when using an external ring
generator. Jumper J701 controls circuits 1-4, and jumper J702 controls circuits 5-8.
10.27 The SLC-16 and LOC-16 can be used only with version 4.3 (or later) system software.
NOTE:
power must be turned OFF to prevent damage to the card. However, station and trunk cards
can be inserted or removed with power on.
Make sure that all components on the cards are seated securely in their sockets and that
1.
no pins are bent.
If an external AC ring generator is used instead of the onboard ring generator, place
2.
the ring generator selection strap(s) (J701 and J702) in the external position (see

Carefully, remove the solid, 8-position jumper strap from jumper location J7 (see
Figure
3-57).
Attach the LOC to the SLC as shown in
and the standoffs are properly aligned and seated.
When programming the database, be sure to enable the message waiting lamps in
station programming.
Carefully remove the two, solid, 16-position jumper straps from jumper locations
J3 and J4 on the SLC-16.
Place jumper strap (J6) on the SLC-16 in the LOW position (over the top two
pins).
Carefully attach the LOC-16 to jumper locations J3, J4, and J5 on the SLC-16.
Make sure the connectors are properly aligned and seated.
When programming the database, be sure to enable the message waiting lamps in
station programming.
NOTE:
Unlike the CPU combinations, the SLC and LOC are attached with the
component sides of the cards facing each other.
