E. DIAGNOSTICS
6.11 For advanced troubleshooting purposes, the Voice Processing applications software
includes special diagnostics software. If a Voice Processing applications problem cannot be
resolved, Customer Support may instruct the technician to connect the monitor and keyboard
and perform certain diagnostic procedures. For example, see
ing system log files.
F.
AUDIO INTERFACE CARD
6.12 The Voice Processing PC's Audio Interface Card (AIC) is a specially-designed Input/
Output (I/O) circuit card that connects to the DB15 PCM connector on the CPU card, CPC, or
Options Card. The initial connection to the CPU or CPC provides up to eight audio interface
ports (e.g., dedicates eight system voice channels) for communication between the telephone
system and the Voice Processing PC. For an additional 4-32 ports, the AIC may be connected
to the DB15 PCM connector on the Options Card.
G. VOICE PROCESSING CARDS
6.13 To control the audio interface ports provided by the AIC, as many as three Voice Pro-
cessing Cards (VPCs) can be installed in the Voice Processing PC (at least one is required).
The VPCs are connected to the AIC using a special interface cable.
6.14 There are several different models of Voice Processing Cards (VPCs) available: 4-Port,
4-Port "Mini", 8-Port, 8-Port "Mini", 12-Port, 16-Port, and 24-Port. Other than their smaller
size, these mini-size cards install and function the same as the full-size cards. As many as three
VPCs (in any combination) can be installed up to the system maximum of 40 audio ports.
H. VIDEO CARD
6.15 The Voice Processing PC is equipped with a Video card (currently VGA) so that the
monitor and keyboard (IBM AT-compatible) can be connected for performing diagnostics or
for loading software and/or voice prompts.
I.
OPTIONAL FAX CARD
6.16 The Voice Processing PC can be equipped with a special Fax card to provide Fax-On-
Demand services to callers. See
J.
MESSAGE STORAGE
6.17 The amount of voice mail message storage space available depends on the size of the
hard disk drive installed in the Voice Processing PC. Approximately 10 MB of disk space is
required for each hour of message storage. A 405 MB hard disk drive, for example, can store
approximately 30 hours of messages in addition to the operating system software. A 540 MB
hard disk drive can store approximately 45 hours of messages.
NOTE:
tions. If these features are used, there is a corresponding reduction in available message stor-
age space.
