MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
LED Indicators: Show the status of the card and circuits and to show T1, E1/PRI, or
T1/E1/PRI trunk alarms and board-level error occurrences. See the TROUBLESHOOT-
ING section of this manual for additional LED information.
Serial Port Jack: (RS232, 8-pin, 8-conductor modular jack or line jack unit) Connects
a diagnostics monitor.
T1 or E1/PRI Span Jack: (RJ48C, 8-pin, 8-conductor modular jack [or RJ45 line jack
unit in Europe] Connects a single, 24-channel T1 span to the T1 Card or 30-channel E1
span to the E1/PRI Card. (If this jack is used, do not use the DB15 connector also pro-
vided on the card.)
NOTE:
All T1 or E1/PRI spans should be disconnected from their cards before turning
the system power on or off.
Dual Bantam Jack: (with transmit and receive audio ports) Connects T1 or E1 test
equipment to the T1C or E1/PRI card and monitoring the transmit and receive signals.
When a live T1 or E1/PRI span is installed on the T1C or E1/PRI card, test equip-
ment should be used for monitoring purposes only. Do not attempt to send signals
over either the transmit or receive audio ports on the T1C or E1/PRI card if a T1 or
E1/PRI span is installed. Also, be sure the test equipment is set in the "bridge" mode.
Alternate T1 or E1/PRI Span DB15 Connector: (15-pin D-subminiature female con-
nector) Connects a single, 24-channel T1 or 30-channel E1/PRI span to the T1 Card.
NOTE:
In certain situations, it may be more convenient to use the DB15 connector
instead of the standard RJ48C jack also provided on the card.
Make-Busy Switch and LED: Removes all circuits on the card from service and places
them back in again. Pressing the switch lights the yellow make-busy LED and begin the
process of "busying out" each circuit not in use. The circuits that are in use are then
busied out as soon as the users hang up. When all circuits are busied out, the make-busy
LED flashes slowly, the circuit-busy LED is unlit, and the card can be removed from its
slot in the equipment cabinet. If the card is not busied out and removed within a certain
amount of time, a programmable timer expires and the card returns to normal operation;
however, the make-busy LED then flashes rapidly until the make-busy switch is
released.
DTMF Transmitters: (T1/E1/PRI card only) Generates DTMF tones for traffic on the
T1/E1/PRI card. To use these transmitters, the Enable T1/E1/PRI DTMF Dialing flag
must be enabled (see
page
CPC or CPU card are used instead.
NOTE:
The T1/E1/PRI card DTMF transmitters are not shared resources. Only the T1/
E1/PRI card can use these transmitters.
CAUTION
6-260). If this flag is disabled, the DTMF transmitters on the
T1C, E1/PRI, or T1/E1/PRI Cards Features
