E. CT GATEWAY AND TRANSCEIVERS
8.12 System OAI Level 2 applications can be used in conjunction with the CT Gateway and
Transceivers.

CT Gateway: Provides a TCP/IP System OAI interface that supports a multi-node net-
work. Each node in a network functions individually, as far as the System OAI streams
are concerned. In other words, you cannot program a System OAI serial port on Node 1
that controls devices or receive events for other nodes. If you need to control devices on
multiple nodes, you must install a CT Gateway. The CT Gateway receives the OAI
streams from multiple nodes and consolidates them into a single stream for a System
OAI application. The CT Gateway sends and receives all of its data via TCP/IP connec-
tions.

Gateway version 3.0 or later.

Transceivers: Provide an interface between RS232 and TCP/IP. Because the CT Gate-
way only supports TCP/IP, and CPC or CPU serial ports and older System OAI applica-
tions communicate with RS232, a Transceiver is needed to translate the data protocol.
Because Transceivers can be located on separate PCs, they allow the CT Gateway to
communicate with multiple nodes, regardless of the number of serial ports available on
the CT Gateway PC and regardless of the distance between the nodes and the CT Gate-
way. There are two different Transceivers:

CP Server or CPC TCP/IP socket connection. The Application Transceiver is not required if
the connection from the CT Gateway to the application uses TCP/IP.
