11. DATABASE OPERATIONS

The Voice Processing Unit must remain attached when saving and restoring the database. If
the unit is not attached, converted voice mail information, such as non-associated mailboxes
and cascade levels, will not be restored.
11.1 The Database Operations submenu, which is available under the Operations menu,
allows you to save, restore, default, and backup the database. Each of these options is
described in the following sections.

A. DATABASE SAVE
11.2 After the System and Voice Processor databases have been programmed for the first
time, you should perform a database save. Store this database in a safe place to be used in the
event that the CPC or CPU database ever becomes corrupted and must be re-entered. This
saved database can be used as a starting point for the re-entry. In addition, you should keep a
current copy of the database that you can update every time you make changes. When this
option is selected, the window shown below appears. It allows you to save the database to disk
during a programming session.
Save To: Enter the name of the file where the database will be saved in this box. Or,
select
Save Voice Processor voice data to: (Available in remote mode only when a Voice Pro-
cessing PC is attached.) Select this option to save the Voice Processor database to the
Voice Processing PC attached to the system. Then enter the destination path for the
database.
Start: To begin the operation, select
existed, it will ask if you want to overwrite it. When the operation is finished, a mes-
sage will show that the operation was successful. (During a save operation you may
need to insert a second disk. If so, replace the first disk with a blank, formatted floppy
disk.)
Cancel: To stop an operation before it is completed, select
show that the operation was aborted by the user.

Database Operations

INTER-TEL
Performing a database Save or Restore operation will cause the phone system to slow
to locate the file. This file is saved to the local database PC.
