4.167 T1 Card with Primary Rate Interface (PRI) Daughter Card
4.168 A PRI Daughter card can be attached to up to eight T1 Cards to allow the system to
interface with an ISDN Primary Rate Interface trunk. Each PRI trunk provides a 23B+D inter-
face that delivers 23 bearer channels (B-channels), each operating at a rate of 64,000 bits per
second (bps), one data signaling channel (D-channel) also operating at 64,000 bps, and framing
information at 8,000 bps – for a total bandwidth of 1.544 megabits per second.
4.169 The PRI trunk is physically connected to the T1 Card using the RJ48C jack or the
DB15 connector normally used to connect a T1 trunk.
4.170 Each PRI trunk must be configured for the proper switch type of service (dedicated ser-
vice, on-demand B-channel selection, or a combination of the two). See
information. The Inter-Tel system is designed to support only AT&T 4ESS Custom, AT&T
5ESS Custom, National ISDN, National IDSN2, and DMS-100 switch types. No other switch
types are currently supported by the phone system.
4.171 The Inter-Tel system currently supports the following ISDN Primary Rate Interface ser-
vices:
4.172 T1 Gain Control (TGC) Daughter Card
4.173 If experiencing excessive E&M gain levels on a T1 Card that is not equipped with a
PRI Daughter card, two special software components and a TGC Daughter card (kit part no.
828.1397) can be attached to the card to provide 6dB of attenuation.
4.174 To use the TGC Daughter card, the T1 Card must be at revision level 2.G or later.
