12.23 The Windows-based Voice Processing allows the user to save or restore the database,
voice data, and selected information using a network directory in addition to the Voice Process-
ing hard drive or floppy drive. The Voice Processing Unit provides this support by mapping the
B drive to the desired target directory as follows:
12.24 The AVDAP Service must log on as a specific user, not a System Account, because
drive mappings in Windows-based PC are Profile-specific, and a user must log on to the local
machine. Permanent drive mappings for that user, based on the stored profile, will be applied.
By default, AVDAP logs on as a System Account and thus will not be allowed a drive map.

12.25 To map the B drive to a directory on the network, you must add a new command option
to the avdap.opt file in the root directory where the Voice Processing software is installed. For
example, if the Voice Processing software is installed in C:\AVDAP, the avdap.opt will have an
absolute filename C:\AVDAP\avdap.opt. Note that capitalization is unimportant. The format of
the command option to map the B drive to a network directory is:
12.26 The file name is specific and has a required specific location of: "\AVDAP\avdap.opt"
It may be necessary to create this file. It is a ASCII text file and can be created or edited with
Notepad or any text editing program. UNC_path is the name of the target directory in the Uni-
versal Naming Convention as follows:

12.27 An example of the complete line in avdap.opt is: -map_b=\\ntserver\vm_save
12.28 It is not possible to map any other drive than B. -map_b= is a command specific to
AVDAP, it is not a Windows-based command. AVDAP only allows mapping of the B drive.
12.29 The AVDAP Service must be started anew after changing its log on field and editing the
avdap.opt file.
12.30 Success or failure of the B drive mapping is evident from either the AVDAP Monitor
window or viewing the appropriate log file in \AVDAP\DB\MSGS. Drive mapping is
attempted during AVDAP's startup.

In order for this feature to work, the Voice Processing PC must not have a B drive
It may be necessary to create this user.
The user can be a Local User or a Domain User.
You must know the user's password to use the account. It is suggested that you do not
allow the user to change the password and that the password never expires.
The user must be a member of the Local Machine's Administrator Group.
The user must have proper rights and permissions on the target share. Full Control or its
equivalent is suggested. Read/write minimally.

If the target directory is a Netware path, the UNC_path can specify a directory path (for
example, \\nwserver\sy2\ud\avdap\save).
If the target directory is on another Windows-based machine, the UNC_path must spec-
ify a share name (for example, \\ntserver\save_avdap_share).
The destination must be in UNC format: \\machine name\share name.
