VOICE MAIL SAVE/RESTORE TO A TAPE DRIVE

12.34 The Windows-based Voice Processor allows the user to save or restore the database,
voice data, and selected information using a tape drive in addition to the Voice Processor hard
drive or floppy drive.
12.35 To back up data to a tape drive, you will need a DOS boot disk. To perform the backup,
do the following:

Delete any unnecessary voice mail messages.
Save the Voice Processor database, as described on
Turn off the Voice Processing PC and connect the tape drive.
NOTE:
If you are using a tape drive that connects to the parallel port, you may not
have to turn OFF the Voice Processing PC.
Insert the DOS boot disk in the Voice Processing floppy drive and turn on the Voice
Processing PC.
View the config.sys file. It should contain the following:
Device = himem.sys
Device = EMM386.EXE
DOS = HIGH
buffers = 30
files = 30
Install the tape drive's backup software on the C drive, following the manufacturer's
instructions.
Prepare the tape drive to receive files, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Save the database and index files, located in the \avdap\db directory, to the tape drive.
Save the message files, located in the \avdap\db \rcrdings directory, to the tape drive.
Save the files located in the \avdap\db\sys directory to the tape drive.
Turn off the Voice Processing PC.
Insert the DOS boot disk in the Voice Processing floppy drive and turn on the Voice
Processing PC.
Install the tape drive's backup software on the C drive, following the manufacturer's
instructions.
Restore the database and index files from the tape drive to the \avdap\db directory on
the Voice Processing PC. Overwrite existing files.
Restore the message files to the \avdap\db\rcrdings directory on the Voice Processing
PC. Overwrite existing files.
Restore the files to the \avdap\db\sys directory on the Voice Processing PC. Overwrite
existing files.
Reboot the Voice Processing PC and restore the database following the normal proce-
dure, described on

6-71.
