Chapter 4 Copy Function Settings and Display
4.1 Advanced Copy Management > set rec-buffer

set rec-buffer

This command sets up REC buffers for use by the REC Asynchronous Consistency Mode. Only one REC buffer for
the DX100 S3, up to 4 REC buffers for the ETERNUS DX200 S3 and the ETERNUS DX200F, and up to 8 REC
buffers for the ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3 can be set. When an REC buffer is newly defined, all the
parameters must be specified. When an existing REC buffer is changed, only the needed parameters may be
specified.
The size of each REC buffer can be selected as follows:
ETERNUS DX100 S3: 128MB
ETERNUS DX200 S3 and ETERNUS DX200F: 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB
ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3: 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB, and 2048MB
The maximum value of the total REC buffer size in the ETERNUS DX is shown below. Note that the maximum
value may not be able to be set depending on the memory capacity that is installed in the ETERNUS DX or the
copy table capacity.
ETERNUS DX100 S3: 128MB
ETERNUS DX200 S3 and ETERNUS DX200F: 512MB
ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3: 8192MB
Receive and Send REC buffers must both be independently defined if the REC buffer is to be used bi-
directionally.
The REC buffer uses twice as much memory capacity as the selected REC buffer capacity because the REC
buffer is made redundant between the CMs.

Parameter

This parameter specifies the REC buffer partition number. This can also be called the group
number. This number starts from 0. Only one number can be specified at a time. The selectable
range is as follows:
ETERNUS DX100 S3: 0
ETERNUS DX200 S3: 0 to 3
ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3: 0 to 7
ETERNUS DX200F: 0 to 3
