When you select the roof, an Edit option displays on the Options Bar. Clicking the Edit option opens
the sketch (the pink lines in the following image) in sketch mode. Here you can edit the individual
elements of the sketch using the tools on the Design Bar. The tools that display on the Design Bar in
sketch mode vary depending on the type of element you are editing. The sample below shows the available
options for this roof.
Sketching Elements
You can use either the Draw option or the Pick Lines option when sketching. Draw allows you to create the
element by clicking and moving the cursor; Pick Lines allows you to select existing lines and edges. As you
sketch, you can use listening dimensions. For more information, see
When you add elements whose size or shape cannot be determined automatically, such as a roof, extrusion,
or opening, you enter sketch mode. In sketch mode, the Design Bar displays only the tools available for that
sketch; the tools vary depending on the type of element you are sketching. There are also elements (such
as walls) that are sketched but do not require the use of sketch mode.
The following tables list the common sketching options, available on the Options Bar, and the Design Bar
tools available in sketch mode.
