SINGLE UNIT INSPECTION
1. INSPECTING THE EXHAUST BRAKE
(1) Check the valve for smooth and complete closing when a load of
80 kPa {600 mmHg, 11.6 inHg} is applied using the exhaust brake
valve Mityvac.
(2) Check the valve for smooth and complete opening when atmo-
spheric pressure is applied to the exhaust brake.
2. INSPECTING THE VALVE BODY
(1) Close the valve completely by applying a load of 80 kPa {600
mmHg, 11.6 inHg} using the Mityvac.
(2) Inspect the clearance between the valve and body using the SST.

Minimum clearance
0.2 mm {0.0079 in.}
(3) Open the valve completely by applying atmospheric pressure to
the exhaust brake and inspect the angle between the valve and
body.
