S5PC100 USER'S MANUAL (REV1.0)
5.4
1 OVERVIEW
Recently NOR Flash memory price has increased and price for DRAM and a NAND Flash memory is moderately
placed. This is the reason why customer prefer to execute the boot code on a NAND Flash and execute the main
code on DRAM.
S5PC100 boot code is executed on an external NAND Flash memory. The boot code copies NAND Flash content
to DRAM. The hardware ECC is used to check data validity of the NAND Flash. After the NAND Fash content is
copied to DRAM, main program is executed on DRAM.
2 FEATURES
NAND Flash memory I/F: Supports 512Bytes, 2KB and 4KB Page.
Software mode: User can directly access NAND flash memory, for example this feature is used in
read/erase/program NAND Flash memory.
Interface: 8-bit NAND Flash memory interface bus.
Generates, detects and indicates Hardware ECC (Software correction).
Supports both SLC and MLC NAND Flash memory
SFR I/F: Supports Byte/half word/word access to Data and ECC Data register, and Word access to other
registers
