3Com Router Command Reference Guide — V1.00
Parameter
traffic-rate: Rate at which multicast packet is sent, in kbps, ranging from 0 to
65535.
infinity: Rate at which multicast packet is sent is not restricted. That is, it is
always switched to the shortest path tree.
acl-number: Standard IP access control table number, ranging from 1 to 99. It
defines a group range, in which rate of the multicast packet is restricted.
Description
Using the spt-switch-threshold command, you can configure the threshold
switching from the shared tree to the shortest path tree of the source. Using the
undo spt-switch-threshold command, you can restore the defaulted threshold
value of the configuration switching from the shared tree to the shortest path tree.
By default, threshold switching from the shared tree to the shortest path tree is 0.
PIM-SM router originally transfers multicast data packet through the shared tree.
But, if the multicast data rate exceeds a certain threshold, the last hop router,
which the multicast packet passed through, will initiate the switching process from
the shared tree to the shortest path tree. If the parameter acl-number is not
specified, it is applicable to all groups.
Example
# Configure the threshold of the switch from the shared tree to the shortest path
tree to 5kbps.
[3Com-pim] spt-switch-threshold 5
24
