While configuring CHAP authentication, specify the password that will be used to
access this router. Specifying a password allows the router to authenticate the remote
user with the password configured using this command.

Example
# Set the user password as 3Com in plain text when the local routers perform the
authentication via CHAP.
[3Com-Serial0]ppp chap password simple 3Com

ppp chap user username
undo ppp chap user

Parameter
username: user name of CHAP. This name is sent to remote device to perform CHAP
authentication.
Description
Using the ppp chap user command, you can configure the name of user when the
CHAP authentication is implemented. Using the undo ppp chap user command, you
can delete the existing configuration.
By default, the user name of the CHAP is null.
While configuring CHAP authentication, you need to configure the username as the
remote local_user, and the corresponding password must be the same.

Example
# Configure the user name which send to remote device to 3Com when CHAP
authentication is performed on interface Serial0.
[3Com-Serial0]ppp chap user 3Com
