Parameter
size The size of the Maximum Transmission Unit of the Ethernet interface, in bytes.
When the Ethernet II frame type is adopted, it ranges from 46 to 1500. When the
Ethernet SNAP frame type is adopted, it ranges from 46 to 1492.
Description
Using the mtu command, you can configure or modify the length (byte) of the MTU
(maximum transmission unit). Using the undo mtu command, you can restore the
default value.
The default value is 1500 when Ethernet_II is adopted and 1492 when
Ethernet_SNAP is adopted.
The size of the MTU of the Ethernet interface will affect the fragmentation and
reassembling of the IP datagrams on the Ethernet interface.
For related commands, see send-frame-type, display interfaces.
