3Com Router Command Reference Guide — V1.00
Description
Using the link-protocol x25 command, you can configure the link layer protocol of the
interface to X.25. Later on, all the incoming or outgoing datagram will be transmitted in
X.25 mode. The interface that has executed this command is called the X.25 interface.
The default link layer protocol of the interface is PPP. For X.25, the default operation is
DTE IETF.
If X.25 switch function is disabled, when two routers are connected back-to-back using
X.25 protocol, one should be configured to work as DTE and the other as DCE; when
connecting these two routers through an X.25 public packet network, both of them
should work as DTE. If X.25 switch function is enabled, the router should work as DCE.
In a normal application without any special requirement, please select datagram
encapsulation in the IETF format.
For related commands, see display interfaces.
Example
# Specify the use of X.25 protocol on the specified Serial0, which works in DTE IETF
mode.
[3Com-Serial0]link-protocol x25 dte ietf
