2.1.1 c-bsr

Syntax
c-bsr interface-type interface-number hash-mask-length [ priority ]
undo c-bsr
View
PIM view
Parameter
interface-type: Interface type
interface-number: Interface number
hash-mask-length: The length of matched mask in HASH algorithm, ranging from
0 to 32. The greater the length is, the less C-BSR discrete is, and the smaller the
length is, the more C-BSR discrete is.
priority: Priority of candidate BSR, ranging from 0 to 255. The candidate BSR with
higher priority will be selected as the final BSR. When serval routers have the
same priority, compare their IP addresses. The router with larger IP address will
become BSR. This paramter is 0 by default.
Description
Using the c-bsr command, you can configure an interface as candidate BSR.
Using the undo c-bsr command, you can cancel the candidate BSR of certain
interface.
PIM-SM router can operate normally only if there is a unique BSR (Bootstrap
Router) in PIM-SM domain. BSR is responsible for collecting and issuing RP
packet. The only acknowledged BSR is elected from multiple BSRs (Candidate
Bootstrap Router, C-BSR) through Bootstrap Message. Before knowing BSR
information, C-BSRs consider themselves as BSR and periodically broadcast
bootstrap packet (Broadcast address: 224.0.0.13) in PIM-SM domain. The packet
contains the IP address and priority of BSR, according to which BSR is selected.
The candidate BSR with higher priority will be selected as the final BSR. When
several routers have the same priority, compare their IP addresses. The router
with larger IP address will become BSR.
