Parameter
protocol: Source protocol where routes are being imported. Now the routes that can
be imported by rip include direct, static, ospf, ospf-ase and bgp.
For more detail of imported routes, please refer to import-route command in section
the "IP Routing Policy Configuration Commands".
Description
Using the import-route command, you can import routes found by other routing
protocols for RIP. Using the undo import-route command, you can disable the
import-route function.
By default, import-route is disabled.
import-route is used to import routes of other protocols through certain cost value
and route-policy. RIP regards the imported routes as its own and transmits them by
the cost specified. The import-route command greatly improves the routing capability
of RIP, therefore enhancing the performance of RIP.
If no cost cost is specified, then it is imported according to the default-cost.
For related commands, see default-cost.
Example
# Import static routes to RIP packet with cost 4.
[3Com-rip] import-route static cost 4
# Set the default cost to be 3, import the OSPF routing with a default cost.
