Releasing the brakes
This procedure describes how to release the holding brakes using the brake release
tool.

Note
The manipulator needs to be powered and motors in state Motors OFF. Do not
release the brakes in automatic operating mode.
Action
Take out the tool from its holder.
DANGER
When releasing the holding brakes, the robot axes
may move very quickly and sometimes in unexpec-
ted ways.
Make sure no personnel is near or beneath the ro-
bot.
Release the holding brake on a particular robot
axis by holding the brake release tool against the
small round recess at the axis.
The brake will function again as soon as the tool is
removed.
