About the Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System
The Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System (Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System) is designed to provide
802.11 wireless networking solutions for enterprises and service providers. The Alcatel OmniAccess
Wireless System simplifies deploying and managing large-scale wireless LANs and enables a unique
best-in-class security infrastructure. The Alcatel OmniAccess Operating System manages all data client,
communications, and system administration functions, performs
manages system-wide mobility policies using the Alcatel OmniAccess Operating System Security
solution, and coordinates all security functions using the
framework.
The Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System consists of Alcatel OmniAccess WLAN Switches and Appliances

(OmniAccess AP Access
any or all of the Alcatel OmniAccess Operating System user interfaces.
The
Alcatel OmniAccess Control System Software
and monitor one or more Alcatel OmniAccess Switches and Appliances and associated APs, and
has tools to facilitate large-system monitoring and control. The Alcatel OmniAccess Control
System Software runs on Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES
Server workstations.
A full-featured CLI (command line interface) can be used to configure and monitor individual
Alcatel OmniAccess Switches and Appliances. Refer to the

An industry-standard SNMP V1, V2c, and V3 interface can be used with any SNMP-compliant
third-party network management system.
The Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System is currently available in two configurations:
Service with WPS (Wireless Protection System) -- The
Wireless System
detection, monitoring and containment functions. The Service with WPS Alcatel OmniAccess
Wireless System uses OmniAccess AP Access Points, Alcatel OmniAccess WLAN Switches, and
optional Alcatel OmniAccess Control System Basic Software or Alcatel OmniAccess Control
System Location Software to provide wireless services to enterprises and service providers.
Standalone WPS -- The
Rogue AP detection, monitoring and containment, but does not provide any client data services.
The WPS Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System uses OmniAccess AP Access Points, Alcatel
OmniAccess WPS Switches and Appliances, and optional WPS Basic Software or WPS Location
Software to allow enterprises to control their air space.
The Service with WPS Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System also allows service providers to incorporate
their existing Cisco 1200, Cisco 350 and ORiNOCO 2000 Access Points
an expanding Service with WPS Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System. Note that the Standalone WPS
Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless System works with OmniAccess AP Access Points, and does not support
Third-Party Access Points.

neously deployed across multiple floors and buildings.
