Step 1: Collecting Required Tools and Information

Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance Hardware

Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance (ships with factory-supplied power cord and mounting
hardware).
•
Network, Alcatel OmniAccess Operating System Service network, and Access Point cables, as
required.

CLI Console

CLI Console
•
VT-100 terminal emulator on CLI Console laptop or palmtop.
•
Null modem serial cable to connect CLI Console and Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance
DB-9 Console port.

Local TFTP Server

•
Required for error-free Alcatel OmniAccess Operating System software updates. (Contact
Technical Support for software updates.)
Note:
TFTP servers cannot run on the same workstation as the ACS Software, because the
ACS Software and the third-party TFTP servers use the same communication port.

Initial System Configuration Information

Obtain the following initial configuration parameters from the wireless LAN/network planner:

System (Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance) name.

Administrative user name and password. (Default Administrative user name and
