Step 8: Connecting the Network (Distribution System)
See the following figure for up to three possible connections from the network (Distribution System) to
the Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance.
•
For the 4012 and 4024 Alcatel OmniAccess WLAN Switch, the three connections are:
-
1000Base-T (GigE, rear panel, RJ-45 physical port, unshielded twisted pair UTP cable).
-
10/100Base-T (Ethernet, front panel, RJ-45 physical port, UTP cable).
-
1000Base-SX (GigE, rear panel, LC physical port, multi-mode fiber optic cable).
For the 4102 Alcatel OmniAccess WLAN Appliance, the connections are:
•
Two (4102) 1000Base-SX (GigE, front panel, LC physical port, multi-mode fiber optic cable).
Note that the 1000Base-SX Network Adapter Modules provide 100/1000 Mbps wired connections to a
network through 850nM (SX) fiber-optic links using LC physical connectors.
Depending on the Distribution System physical port to be assigned in Configuring Alcatel OmniAccess
Switch and Appliance Interfaces in the Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless Product Guide, use Ethernet CAT-5
or higher Ethernet cables or LC compatible fiber optic cable to connect the network equipment to the
Alcatel OmniAccess Switch or Appliance.
