REP 4.2.6 Tray 1 Take Away Roll and Retard Assembly

Removal
1 Switch off the printer and disconnect the printer power.
2 If installed, remove the Duplex Unit, Mailbox, and Finisher
3 Remove the MBF or Envelope Feeder (REP 4.3.1).
4 Open the Upper Left Cover and remove the EP Cartridge (REP 4.5.1). Cover the cartridge and
store in a safe place.
5 Remove Paper Trays 1 and 2.
6 Remove the Upper Rear Cover Assembly (REP 4.1.3).
7 Remove the Left Upper Cover Assembly (REP 4.1.6).
8 Disconnect MBF inline connector P/J603 (Figure 4.2.6a).
9 Release the cable from the flexible cable clamp.
10 Disconnect the harness from the Tray 1 Feed Clutch (Figure 4.2.6a).
11 Disconnect P/J403 from the Printer Engine Controller PWB (Figure 4.2.6a).
12 Remove disconnected harness from all cable clamps.
13 Remove the four screws that secure the MBF Support Bracket (Figure 4.2.6b). Carefully feed the
wiring harness through the printer frame as you remove the bracket.
14 Remove the four screws that secure the Left Middle Cover (Figure 4.2.6b). Remove the cover.
15 Remove Tray 1 Lift Up Motor (REP 4.2.1).
16 Position two reams of paper in to the cavity occupied by Tray 1 (avoid switches and sensors)
(Figure 4.2.6c).
NOTE: The two reams of paper will be supporting the printer while the retard frame assembly is
removed.
